One Systems speakers installed at new US stadium

test 17 November 2009

US: The Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, is described as the largest domed stadium in the world, reports David Davies. The installation of One Systems’ 312CIM speakers was carried out by Hercules, California-based Pro Media/Ultra Sound (PMUS).

The speakers – which provide pre- and post-game production coverage to fans – are mounted near each entrance on either side of the quarter-mile long imported steel trusses running the length of the stadium. They have been located nearly 85 ft from the ground and are secured to the trusses with custom One Systems 212IM-U brackets.

Sound quality, weather-resistance and the ability to paint the units to match the architecture were among the reasons for the selection of the One Systems speakers by Cowboys Stadium design consultants WJHW Inc. The company’s Kevin Day said that the team had been "quite pleased with the power and sound quality from these speakers and look forward to specifying [them] for future projects where weather survivability and good sound quality are desired."

Speaking to PSN-e, One Systems consultant Graham Allen observed that the US brand is entirely geared towards installation applications and is currently focusing on the further development of its European distribution network. "The product is truly special," enthuses Allen. "It features minimum IP45 weather and dust particle proof-rating, as well as full bandwidth, high vocal intelligibility, high power and music performance. The combination of weatherproof [design] and full concert sound audio is totally unique."
