Northern School of Sound preparing for launch

test 17 March 2009

UK: The new facility is the first Apple Authorised Training Centre for Pro Apps in the North East, reports PSN-e. Owned and managed by certified Logic Pro Trainer Damian Dowling, the Northern School of Sound will off pro training and certification in music software (including Logic, Ableton Live and Reason), video editing software, Mac OS X and network administration, among other areas.

The new school will be launched formally on April 17 at its premises in the Stonehills Studio complex in Gateshead.

According to school administrator Chris Minnis, the arrival of the Northern School of Sound parallels the increasing cultural prominence of the north-east, and Newcastle/Gateshead in particular.

“We’re looking toward the future, and we believe Gateshead is going to become a real cultural hub for the north-east,” says Minnis. “The success of the Baltic and The Sage Gateshead, the continuing council-supported property renovation programme and the projected further development of the riverside area are very positive, and we at the Northern School of Sound think that Gateshead has a massive amount of potential to play host to great leaps and bounds in the arts, digital media and cultural connections. This will come about through hard work, forward thinking, co-ordinated development and high level training, and we plan to play an important role as a centre for creative media and high level training to industry.”
