New SSL-based London studio opens30 September 2008
UK: BSS Audio Soundweb training will take place at Sound Technology’s Hertfordshire HQ, writes David Davies. The company will offer two free one-day courses on both BSS Soundweb series, Soundweb Original and Soundweb London, on a monthly basis. The next available Original course is due to take place a week tomorrow (October 8th), while the next London session is scheduled for October 22nd.
UK: Alpha Centauri Recording is located in the former Battery complex, writes David Davies. Billed as “probably the highest spec SSL mix room in the country”, the new facility is based around an SSL 4060 G+ Console with Total Recall. Other equipment includes Dynaudio M4+ custom built active speakers, a Pro Tools HD3 system with Atomic Clock and Apogee converters, Studer 2″ and 1/2″ tape machines, and an extensive microphone collection.
The end-result is described as a ‘no-expenses-spared’ environment for SSL-based recording and mixing. Artists to have made use of the studio during its first few months include PJ Harvey, Glasvegas, Sugababes, DJ Ironik and The Hours.
“The studio is actually my personal room for my future projects – which explains the no-compromise attitude – but I have made it available to the public for now,” explains owner and singer/songwriter Steve Rhodes.
Studio management company Miloco is handling all bookings for the new facility. For more information, contact Vicky Dempsey (tel: +44 (0)20 7232 0008; email: firstname.lastname@example.org).
