New Rane mixer finds favour with DJ Kofi1 July 2010
Rane and Serato have created the first Scratch Live-compatible DJ mixer to allow two computers to be connected simultaneously, reports PSN-e. DJ Kofi has bought the first Rane Sixty-Eight Mixer with Serato Scratch Live 2.0 to be made available in the UK.
Billed as enabling the “ultimate club mixer experience”, the new launch uses two USB ports and allows seamless handover from one DJ to another. The mixer also lets users manage up to four decks with a single laptop and offers access to a wealth of tracks and effects via clean and simple control.
Highlighting the suitability of the mixer for use with video-heavy productions – such as recent shows undertaken with Gorillaz – DJ Kofi first encountered the Rane Sixty-Eight during a specialist DJ clinic organised by UK distributor Sennheiser UK.
“I’d heard about the Sixty-Eight before I went to the ‘clinic’ and I’d been using Rane and Serato products for about five years, so the Sixty-Eight was a natural progression. It seems like I think of these things and then they come out. This couldn’t have come at a better time!” said Kofi.
Sennheiser UK product manager Paul Nunnington added: “Rane’s product development programme carefully considers the current and future requirements of the market. The fact that the Sixty-Eight has addressed so many of DJ Kofi’s desires is testament to this.”
