New MD Mark Burton for PSNEurope and Intent Media

Publishing giant NewBay Media – whose portfolio includes PSNEurope – has announced that Mark Burton has been named managing director of NewBay Media Europe/Intent Media.

Burton, who most recently led Incisive Media’s Insurance Group as its group publishing director and was responsible for a wide portfolio of branded media products and events, took up his post this morning, 17 February 2014.

"Mark is an accomplished media executive with an impressive track record," states Steve Palm, CEO, NewBay Media. "He is the right person to further develop our magazine, digital, and event capabilities and aggressively grow our European business. I am excited to have him join our team."

Burton’s most recent stable of brands at Incisive Media included Post, Insurance Age and Insurance Hound. During his time there he was instrumental in launching data-driven digital products, expanding the Insurance events portfolio into new territories, and gaining substantial subscription growth through digital corporate licenses.

Burton has also served as publisher of Incisive’s Computer Reseller News (CRN), Accountancy Age and Financial Director. Earlier experience includes executive positions at VNU Business Media.

Burton takes over the position from Stuart Dinsey, the Intent founder who left the company in October 2013.

+ In other NewBay Media news, Charles Weiss has joined the company as a publisher in the US-based AV/Pro Audio Group where he will have responsibility for titles including Pro Sound News, Mix, Pro Audio Review, Music Festival Business, Sound & Video Contractor, and the AES Daily.

Additionally, Weiss has been charged with increasing the editorial and sales coordination between NewBay US and European AV/Pro Audio brands, including PSNEurope, Installation and Audio Media.

Weiss comes to NewBay Media from Group FMG, where he was vice president, Publishing. Before that, he has held executive-level positions at Backstage, Intellisphere, Nielsen Business Media and Reed Business Information.
