NAMM 2016: PreSonus adds AVB to StudioLive mix systems

At the NAMM Show last week PreSonus unveiled its new StudioLive AVB Mix Systems, which combine one or two StudioLive RM-series rack mixers, a StudioLive CS18AI Ethernet/AVB control surface, and integrated control, recording, and production software.

Four systems are available: The StudioLive AVB 16AI Mix System, with one StudioLive RM16AI mixer; StudioLive AVB 32AI Mix System, with one StudioLive RM32AI; StudioLive AVB 48AI Mix System, with one of each RM model, cascaded to form a 48-input, 64-channel system; and StudioLive AVB 64AI Mix System, with two cascaded StudioLive RM32AIs for a 64-input system.

Equipped with 100 mm, touch-sensitive, motorized faders and AVB networking, the StudioLive CS18AI control surface provides a compact mixing solution for StudioLive RM32AI rack-mount digital mixers and for Studio One 3 digital audio workstation, which is included with all AVB Mix Systems.

In other NAMM news from PreSonus, the company also launched its new ULT-series active loudspeakers, which are said to combine the widest horizontal dispersion of any loudspeaker in their class with a focused vertical dispersion for an ultra-long throw.

Designed for both mobile use and permanent installations by PreSonus’ WorxAudio commercial loudspeaker division, the series includes the ULT12 and ULT15 full-range systems and the ULT18 subwoofer.

The full-range ULT12 and ULT15 feature PreSonus’ proprietary, rotatable Pivot X110 horn and a proprietary, 12- / 15-inch, low-frequency driver with a 2.5-inch voice coil. Both speakers are biamped and driven by a 1,300W (peak) Class D amplifier. The ULT12 generates up to 132 dB SPL, and the ULT15 delivers up to 136 dB SPL.

The ULT18 subwoofer is driven by 2,000W (peak) Class D power and uses a direct radiating, ported enclosure. A proprietary, 18-inch, low-frequency transducer with a 4-inch voice coil provides 7mm of driver travel before over-excursion to push more air and bring more “thump,” says PreSonus.
