NAMM 2014: Apogee introduces new MiC 96k

California-based Apogee Electronics has announced the release of the MiC 96k, the follow up to the Apogee MiC, released in 2011. Designed for vocal and acoustic instrument recording, the MiC 96k works with iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Mac.   The MiC 96k is a high fidelity, studio quality cardioid condenser microphone. It is compatible with Pro Tools, Logic Pro and GarageBand and has a built in Apogee designed microphone preamp with up to 40dB of gain.
Like the model that preceded it, the MiC 96k comes with an iOS 30-pin cable, table-top tripod stand and a Mac USB cable. The upgraded version offers higher fidelity analogue to digital recording of up to 24-bit or 96kHz. Unlike its predecessor, the new version will have a Lightning iOS cable and a microphone stand adaptor included in the box.   Apogee writes that the MiC 96k is “Inspired by the most revered and classic microphones in history”. The statement continues that it “is designed to sound amazing and be easy for anyone to use.”
