MPG (UK) extends 2010 Awards nomination deadline

test 29 September 2009

UK: People wishing to nominate producers and engineers for the next MPG Awards now have until October 19, reports PSN-e. Summer holidays and hectic work schedules were among the factors that informed the Music Producers Guild’s decision to accommodate requests for an extension.

It is also thought that the extended nomination period will give new releases that only just make into the qualifying period – which closes on September 30 – a fairer chance.

The nomination process is open to anyone who wants to put a name forward. There is also no bar on nominating yourself, and indeed the MPG is encouraging producers and engineers to do this. Nominations should be made via the online form at the MPG website (link below).

The categories for the 2010 MPG Awards are: Producer of the Year, Recording Engineer of the Year, Best Mix Engineer, Best Mastering Engineer, Best Live Album of the Year, UK Album of the Year (09), UK Single of the Year (09), Best Re-mixer, the Joe Meek Award for Innovation in Production, Breakthrough Producer, Breakthrough Engineer, Best Studio, Best International Producer of the Year, Unsung Hero and Outstanding Contribution to UK Music.

The 2010 Awards will be held at the Cafe de Paris in London on February 11.
