MPG's third Q-Time tackles paying producers and more

The third of the Music Producers Guild’s regular Q-Time events takes place on 8 April at The Hospital Club in London.   Up for discussion this time is whether the music business can afford to support record producers and non-performing songwriters, and if so, how will they be paid for their work?   Chairing the event for the first time is MPG chairman and producer Steve Levine. Panel members will include Helienne Lindvall (award-winning Guardian journalist and singer-songwriter), Will Page (director of economics at Spotify), Tim Clement-Jones (Lib-Dem peer and spokesman for culture, media and sport in the House of Lords ), Ben Mandelson (musician, producer) and Jo Dipple (CEO of UK Music).   Questions for the panel can be submitted via email prior to the event at If you’ve yet to attend an event, read Dave Robinson’s write-up of the inaugural Q-Time event for a taste of what’s in store.   Ticket prices are as follows:   MPG Basic Members and non-members: £25 MPG Associate Members: £12.50 MPG Full Members: FREE MPG Associate Members with Season Ticket upgrade: FREE   (25% discount for members of affiliated organisations, e.g. AIM, BASCA, PRS for Music, MU, FAC, APRS, etc.)
