Mix and win at PLASA Focus: Leeds with Audio-Technica

Visitors to Audio-Technica’s stand at PLASA Focus: Leeds will have the opportunity to use a brace of Allen & Heath GLD digital mixing consoles to mix a 35 channel live acoustic performance by UK rockers Deaf Havana, recorded at London’s Union Chapel in April.   Mixes can then be entered in a competition running throughout the show, which will see the winner go home with either Audio-Technica or Allen & Heath products worth up to £500.   FOH engineer Ben Hammond, who used an Allen & Heath iLive system and full complement of Audio-Technica microphones to mix the band’s recent UK tour, will judge the entries along with Deaf Havana frontman James Veck-Gilodi.   Tom Harrold, Audio-Technica assistant marketing manager pro-audio said: “We’re very excited about bringing such an interactive experience to PLASA Focus this year. Being able to mix a live multi-channel performance will give visitors a real understanding of the power of the compact Allen & Heath GLD desk – and the chance to record a ‘competition mix’ and have it judged by Ben and James is a unique twist. We’re looking forward to hearing what PLASA Focus visitors come up with.”   In addition to the competition, PLASA Focus will also see the UK debut of Allen & Heath’s new Qu-16 rackmountable digital mixer and ME personal mixing system, launched at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt.
