MG Sound expanding with Munro

test 17 March 2009

UK/AUSTRIA: The acoustic design company has been enlisted to work on a project for one of Austria’s leading studio complexes, writes David Davies. Based in Vienna, MG Sound – whose existing studio was originally designed by Munro – is relocating to a larger, three-storey building located nearby.

Scheduled for completion by the end of this year, the new facility will house three music studios, including a Dolby-ready film mixing and editing suite, along with three post-production rooms.

MG Sound’s new premises will occupy approximately 1200 sqm and will also feature two isolation booths and a live recording room of around 130 sqm.

Andy Munro, managing director of Munro Acoustics, tells PSN-e: “MG Sound is an ideal project for us in that it incorporates music, film and TV sound creation under one roof. We have an in-house team of specialists that have experience in everything from opera to full feature film re-recording. Working with the owner, Martin B_ehm, and his creative team is a real buzz, with ideas and concepts flowing thick and fast.”

Clients at the new facility are expected to include advertising agencies, rock bands and orchestras.

In other news, Munro Acoustics has recently designed, project managed and installed a post-production surround studio for BT Vision at the BT Tower in London. Equipment installed at the facility includes Snell & Wilcox Kahuna multi-format vision mixers, Pro-Bel routing systems, Crystal Vision modules, Avid ISIS, and Evertz MVPs with Planar/Clarity Baycat X 46″ HD screens.

An internet radio station for web broadcasts by The Financial Times and a new dubbing suite for Future Post in Soho are among Munro’s current projects.
