MAYAH codecs specified for UEFA Champions League

test 11 September 2007

ITALY: A total of eight new MAYAH CENTAURI II 3000 units will deliver commentator speech to international broadcasters during all games of the new Champions League season. Service provider Delta Tre Group – which has offices in Turin and London – selected the MAYAH audio gateway codecs “to cover any possible destinations with any possible remote equipment”, reports PSN-e.

MPEG Layer 2 coding algorithm is set to be used widely to ensure the broadest compatibility. For the same reason, says MAYAH, there is an optional ISDN-Interface installed in every CENTAURI II unit delivered to the Italian headquarters of Delta Tre Group via MAYAH distributor A&DT.

Delta Tre Group’s customers have included EBU, BBC, Eurosport, FIFA, Premiere, T-Mobile, TF1, TVE and UEFA.

CENTAURI II’s specification includes mono, stereo or multichannel audio for point-to-point, point-to-multipoint or uni/multicast transmissions over IP, ISDN and X.21/V.35 broadcast interfaces, along with support for an extensive range of network protocols and coding algorithms, including G.722, the entire MPEG range, apt-X/Eapt-X, 4SB ADPCM, J.41 and J.57. The codec’s basic functionality includes Backup, Gateway and Twin/Quad Codec, while new features include support of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for automation of IP-based connections, higher mobility and codec compatibility; MPEG TS over IP or ASI interfaces; ASI interface for easy integration into DVB installations; Dual Ethernet and Hot Swappable Redundant Power Supply.
