Brighton Wild Life Festival uses Martin Audio PA systems

Martin Audio PAs brought the sound to Brighton’s Wild Life festival last month, with 35,000 festival-goers enjoying the event at Brighton City Airport in its third year.

Despite 30mph winds on build-up day threatening to play havoc with the sound control, the Capital Sound crew in charge received positive feedback at the end of play, with Capital crew chief Robin Conway saying “the event couldn’t have gone better”.

“I personally believe the multi-cellular loudspeaker array (MLA) system handles the crosswinds much better than other PAs,” added Conway, saying that it was “able to achieve excellent results”.

Martin Audio’s MLA systems populated the three main stages of five at the event, including the Wild Life main outdoor stage, DJ outdoor area Terminal Stage and the Elrow Big Top tent, featuring artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Stormzy and Jess Glynne.

Capital featured 15 MLA and an MLD Downfill each side on the main stage, with a 16 MLX sub array. Front fills comprised six MLA, while 16 Martin Audio LE1500 floor monitors were driven from Powersoft X8 amplifiers.

The multi-cellular control of the system meant that noise monitoring duties by consultants Vanguardia were also fairly straightforward, with offsite thresholds being maintained at the required 75dB, allowing the main stage bowl sound to exceed 100dB until the sensitive 11pm cut-off time.

“The various PAs performed brilliantly and all systems sounded excellent. We received a lot of positive feedback and no complaints whatsoever,” added Conway.
