Martin Audio for historic all-digital cinema

test 19 August 2008

UK: Vue’s Princes Quay Hull site is described as Europe’s first new-build, all-digital multiplex cinema, writes David Davies. Systems from Martin Audio – Vue Cinemas’ long-term sound equipment manufacturer of choice – have been installed in each of the Hull complex’s ten screening rooms. Depending on room size, Martin Audio Screen 5 or Screen 4 systems were fitted, accompanied by Screen Sub 1A and Effect 5 surround speakers.

The systems were set into position by Eomac, which also designed the screen frames and stretch wall fabric, with cinema specialist Sound Associates carrying out the full termination/integration and commissioning of the sound and projection system.

Site-wide distribution of movies is carried out via a Dolby Show Store library, Show Player and CP650 digital processor, which decodes the signals and feeds the 5.1 speaker array.

“Martin Audio has provided Vue Entertainment with quality speaker systems over the past few years at many of our cinemas across the UK,” Mark Reader, head of projection UK at Vue Entertainment, tells PSN-e. “We are pleased that such a quality product was used in all 10 screens at our new all-digital complex in Hull. The combination of digital images along with digital sound delivers a dynamic cinema-going experience for all of our guests. I am delighted that for our next four sites opening by the end of 2008 we will again be installing Martin Audio speaker systems which will complement both 35mm and standalone digital screens.”
