Mackie DLM Series5 September 2012
What is it? A range of compact, lightweight speakers powered by 2kW Class-D amplifiers and incorporating Mackie’s vertically-aligned, common-magnet TruSource driver technology. Details The DLM Series currently comprises three models: the 8” and 12” full-range DLM8 and DLM12 plus the 12” DLM12S sub. The two full-range models incorporate 1.75” compression drivers and TruSource DSP circuitry said to deliver “seamless clarity, consistent dispersion and unmatched fidelity”. Also onboard is the DL2 Integrated Digital Mixer – a one-touch digital design with a bright OLED screen, versatile dual input channels, independent level, 3-band EQ and effects controls with 16 built-in programs including reverb, chorus and delay. XLR/TRS combo and dual RCA input connectors handle mic, line, stereo and instrument signals. A multi-band feedback destroyer is included together with six speaker modes said to deliver perfect voicing for a range of applications. Alignment delay (up to 300ms) is also available (with three memory locations for instant venue setting recall) together with Smart Protect DSP designed to dynamically protect the amp and drivers. The ultra-compact design is around a third smaller than traditional 2-way enclosures, allowing an entire DLM system to be carried in most cars and stacked for storage. In use they can be pole-mounted, flown using standard M10 rigging or wall-mounted using an SWM300 articulated arm. The DLM12s sub offers low-frequency extension down to 35Hz and its own DLP Digital Processor. And another thing… The DLM12s sub includes presets for use with both DLM and SRM full-range enclosures plus variable crossover control optimisation with an speaker.
