LOUD Technologies realigns European HQs in UK for Mackie and EAW8 January 2008
UK: In two separate announcements made at the end of 2007, Loud Technologies has announced the establishment of two new offices which will bolster the presence of all its brands – including Mackie, Ampeg, Crate, Alvarez and notably EAW, which had a relatively low profile in 2007 – in the UK and into Europe, says Dave Robinson.
The new LOUD Technologies European Headquarters is on the same site as Martin Audio’s HQ in High Wycombe. Tony Willliams retains his title of director of sales EMEA, with John Kaukis as UK sales manager. The old Wickford, Essex LOUD/Mackie building now becomes the new EAW Europe HQ, exclusively focused on the EAW brand, and headed up by Sean Martin (pictured), the veteran European sales manager. Both operations came online on 2nd January 2008.
“Since the addition of the Ampeg, Crate & Alvarez brands to the Mackie group there has been significant growth in volumes in Europe over the last few years,” Tony Williams told PSN-e concerning his move to Wycombe. “At this point all UK MI brand shipments come out of our central European logistics hub in Rotterdam. The goal in 2008 is to establish a new large UK logistics centre for the all the brands and the Wickford facility is simply not large enough for this role.
“The location was chosen as there are clear benefits to be gained from sharing logistics with Martin Audio. On the same site there will also be a large new warehouse which will be operational by mid 2008. This will provide significant economies of scale and improved efficiency in deliveries to our UK based customers.
“It is important to note that customers will only notice a change of address and telephone number, as all other contact details will remain the same.”
Most of the existing administration staff in Wickford were offered the chance to relocate. “Sadly, some staff were unable to make the move,” says Williams. “We have been busy recruiting over the last few months and have taken the opportunity to make the new administration and service support team multilingual. We are also pleased that some of the existing staff have kindly agreed to assist us in the transition by helping to train these new staff.”
Meanwhile in Wickford, Sean Martin and his team of six will be offering the complete inventory of EAW products to continental Europe in order to “dramatically shorten delivery times”. An EAW Product Service Centre has been instituted in Wickford, in close proximity to the new office. In addition, EAW Germany will continue with its dedicated office.
Martin says. “As EAW continues to move impressively forward… those efforts are being matched by an uncompromising attitude in taking care of our customers, saving them time, expense and hassle.”
According to LOUD, the directive to establish a dedicated EAW brand footprint was down to EAW brand group vice-president Jeffrey Cox, teamed with Martin’s “extensive knowledge and understanding of the unique needs of the European marketplace”. It comes as the company continues to increase its focus on Europe’s pro audio community, highlighted by educational efforts such as the B4 Roadshow – conducted by EAW's training and educational staff – held across the continent earlier this year.
“The bottom line is that Europe has been, and remains, a very important market for EAW. That’s why we have invested the resources and personnel in establishing a dedicated operation in Europe,” states Cox.
Specific location and mailing address for the new operations are: LOUD Technologies Europe plc, Century Point, Halifax Road, Cressex Business Park, High Wycombe HP12 3SL and EAW Europe, Unit 3 Blenheim Court, Hurricane Way, Wickford, Essex SS11 8YT;
