London Speaker Hire opens new rehearsal/production complex29 October 2014
London Speaker Hire (LSH) is expanding its business with a new 12,000sqft rehearsal and production complex in the east of the city.
Offering a “unique new home from home for anyone in the entertainment industry”, the Pro Sound Awards 2014 finalist says LSH Spaces East has “something for bands, musicians and production companies alike”. Based next to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, the complex boasts a 2,850sqft showcase and pre-production hall, three themed rehearsal rooms, storage space for bands on tour, access to the latest AV equipment and a “fully stocked pro shop”.
Grant Turner, founding partner at LSH, explains: “We’ve built up a successful premier AV rental business over the past seven years, fast becoming the go-to for a trusted, quality and friendly service. Listening to our clients, we felt we could go further – hence opening our doors, literally, to the industry. We’re a family business, and LSH Spaces East is our open house to those who want to deliver high quality work in a fun, home from home environment.”
In addition to the three rehearsal rooms – The Circus features a waltzer car and flashing lights, The Country Garden grass and a white picket fence and The Boxing Ring a classic Shure SH55 mic dangling from the ceiling, and all are equipped with Martin Audio PA and monitoring system and digital sound desks – LSH Spaces East has free wi-fi throughout, an on-site American diner, crazy golf course, pool and custom table football tables, Sky TV, a full body hydro shower and “enough space to park your tour bus”!
A full catalogue of equipment is also available to hire on site, including PA, backline and videowall. The showcase room features Martin Audio’s MLA Mini modular line array system, a Robe Lighting rig and the opportunity to live-stream events over the internet. There are several video and mixing editing suites and an on-site server room for colocation of network and server hardware.
As well as a space for the music industry, the venue is also available for hire – LSH says “launches, awards ceremonies, galleries, pop-up events and catwalk shows would all feel at home at LSH Spaces East”.
The venue opened its doors for the first time earlier this month, and Nick Mulvey checked in for some rehearsal time before his current UK tour. He tweeted:
