Last day for PSNEurope editor

Last day for PSNEurope editor

After exactly 19 years of service, Dave Robinson is leaving the PSNEurope brand today, with Music Week’s Dan Gumble taking over as editor.

Robinson will be succeeded by Daniel Gumble who currently serves as news editor of Music Week and formerly held senior editorial positions with MI Pro and Audio Pro International (now Audio Media International). Dan takes up his new post on 26 June.

The departing Robinson said, “Man and boy, practically, I’ve worked on Pro Sound News Europe/PSNEurope. Nineteen years. Yes, really. And, during that time, I like to think I’ve done OK.

“But it’s time for new blood, and a reinvigorated vision. I couldn’t be happier that the more-than-capable Dan Gumble will be taking on the legacy of PSNEurope. I wish him all the very best in, surely, one of the greatest – and most fun – roles to have in this industry.”

Robinson joined Pro Sound News Europe as assistant editor (Monday) 16 June 1998, before taking editor Phil Ward’s role in October 2000.

“Long-serving editors like Dave are becoming a rarer commodity these days, and we will certainly miss the knowledge and experience he takes with him,” said James McKeown, content director at NewBay. “He has been the driving force behind the success of the market-leading PSNEurope title for the past 19 years, and he deserves an immense amount of credit for the service he has given to the brand.

“On behalf of everyone at NewBay, I wish Dave the best of luck in his future endeavours.”

Editor in waiting, Dan Gumble, said, “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Pro Sound News Europe. For decades, PSNE/PSNEurope has been the industry’s leading publication and I can’t wait to start working with the team.”

During his tenure, Robinson launched the PSNLive annual report and the Genius! ‘inventors and inventions’ brand (Genius!3 is scheduled for later this year). He was a driving force in the establishment of the Pro Sound Awards and the PSNPresents ‘chat show with networking’ evenings.

“I’ve had a brilliant time and met some fantastic people. I’ve also had the pleasure to work with, and in some cases, nurture, some highly talented team players: including (remember some of these people?) Nikki Evenden, Ben Rosser, Erica Basnicki, Steve Connolly, Jo Ruddock, Oliver Walker, Nick Beck, Sam Patel, Murray Stassen, Dawn Boultwood, Jon Chapple and latterly Sarah Sharples, Rian, Jat, Ryan and Alex. I couldn’t have put the magazine together every month without these people.

“Quite the ride. But for me, it’s time to change lanes.”

Gumble will remain with Music Week until 23rd June before officially taking the reins at PSNEurope on Monday 26 June. “The brand is in a great place to develop into the future, and Dan is the ideal person to come in and lead the title in the next phase of its evolution,” McKeown continued.

“His appointment as editor completes his journey through NewBay’s pro-audio and music stable, and I am very much looking forward to working with Dan as he puts his own stamp on the title.”
