Interim UK distribution set-up for Native Instruments

test 10 February 2009

EXCLUSIVE: The news follows the entrance of the Arbiter Group into administration in late January, reports Mike Collins. Native Instruments offers a range of popular plug-ins, software and hardware aimed at producers, remixers, DJs and musicians.

Last October, Steinberg ceased distribution via Arbiter, which undoubtedly had some impact on the Arbiter Group’s future prospects, removing an important source of revenue in the run up to Christmas. Rumours concerning Arbiter’s demise were circulating at the mid-January NAMM show.

According to NI CEO Daniel Haver (pictured): “We had a number of talks with Arbiter prior to their closure, but unfortunately it seems that there was no way for them to sustain their operations.”

For the future, Native Instruments has plans under way to set up new UK distribution in a couple of months’ time, recognising the importance of the UK market. “Until we launch our new distribution set-up, by April at the latest, we will make sure that our products remain in good supply in the UK,” said Haver. “Our sophisticated logistics set-up and dedicated sales staff will allow us to serve the UK fast and reliably.”

NI has just launched a raft of products at NAMM, including the new Maschine groove production studio; Guitar Rig Mobile portable audio interface with a selection of amps, cabinets and effects from GUITAR RIG 3; and AUDIO 4 DJ, a compact audio interface for DJs.

“Our recently introduced new generation of Traktor DJ products and the upcoming groove production studio Maschine, which will debut in March, is creating an extraordinarily strong overall demand for NI product,” said Haver.

In the interim period, UK retailers can order these and other NI products directly from Native Instruments through its Berlin-based sales department, liaising with the NI sales team through existing direct contacts or via the NI website (link below).
