Grund Audio GT-LPB-36CX3 April 2012
What is it? A high-power, low-profile sub-bass system designed for both touring and fixed installation sound reinforcement applications. Details At a height of only 17”, the GT-LPB-36CX subwoofer is designed for applications where space is at a premium or minimal visibility of the enclosure is required for aesthetic considerations. It houses dual 18” LF transducers in a heavily-braced, 13-ply Baltic birch enclosure employing dado and rabbet construction for greater rigidity. The enclosure utilises Grund Audio’s proprietary Linear Pressure Chambers technology with two ported chambers to focus acoustic energy from the front and rear of the drivers for maximum efficiency. A combination of Thiele/Small, LEAP and LMS parameters are employed to direct the output forward, so as to not interfere with stage SPL. The GT-LPB-36CX subwoofer is capable of handling 2kW at a (nominal) impedance of 4 ohms with sensitivity of 99dB at 1W/1m (132dB full power). Overall frequency response is quoted at 35Hz – 200Hz. The enclosure measures 17”(H) x 43.5”(W) x 29.5”(D) and incorporates dual Neutrik NL4 Speakon connectors. Available in four finishes – black, white, natural (with no filler marks) and black Tour Coat epoxy, the enclosure incorporates a powder-coated, perforated steel grille and weighs 75.6kgs. And another thing… Grund Audio also produces two smaller versions of the sub – the 800W GT-LPB-24C with dual 12” drivers and the 1000W GT-LPB-18CX fitted with a single 18” driver.
