Euphonix and IBS announce joint initiative

test 10 March 2009

UK: The audio manufacturer has linked up with the Institute of Broadcast Sound (IBS) for a new promotional effort, writes David Davies. The joint initiative is aimed at enhancing awareness of the IBS organisation and the benefits it offers to today’s audio professionals, and boosting membership.

Founded in 1977 by radio and TV sound balancers who felt there was a need for a better interchange of ideas across the broadcast audio world, IBS has subsequently evolved to encompass all aspects of sound production and post-production as well.

Running throughout March and April, the promotion will provide all new customers of the Euphonix Artist Series media controllers with the opportunity to join the IBS free for a year – representing a saving of up to _75. New members will need to register their Artist Series product and provide the IBS with proof of purchase within the promotional period. Full details can be located on the IBS website (link below).

Euphonix sales manager Mark Hosking (pictured) commented: “The IBS represents the benchmark in dedication, experience and professionalism within the UK pro-audio market. Euphonix has always been a company to innovate and look to the future, and to join with the IBS to reach out to the future of the industry is a privilege.”

IBS executive committee member Chris Maclean tells PSN-e that the promotion is taking place during a period in which the organisation is actively seeking to recruit more members. “Last year we simplified the membership criteria and introduced a Code of Conduct for full members,” he notes. “One of the reasons we did this was to make it easier for people to join the IBS as we realised that many sound people would be eligible to join but did not have the relevant broadcast experience. The IBS also recognised that many sound people who did not work in broadcasting ought to be able to join the IBS.”

The IBS is currently planning a series of training courses and events. ‘First Steps In Foley’ is scheduled to run at Everything Audio in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, on April 15, while further seminars dealing with surround acquisition, broadcast communications, production workflow and HD decks are planned for May and June.

Full seminar details and booking information can be found at the IBS website (link below).
