Epic motorcycle ride to benefit The Theatrical Guild18 May 2010
The 1,400-mile tour aims to visit as many interesting and historical theatres in the UK as possible during its eight-day duration. As previously reported on PSNE, Charcoalblue’s Jack Tilbury and industry journalist Sarah Rushton-Read are among those participating in the tour, which will raise funds for The Theatrical Guild (TTG).
Also taking to the road next month as part of the First Night Riders are Rob Barnard, Neil Collins, David Edelstein, Charles Haines, Darrell Hewitt, Chris Higgs, Simon Nicholls, Al Parkinson, Michael Powell, Mike Cucciare and Bill Sapsis.
Beginning on 5 June at the National Theatre – where they will be waved off by acting royalty including Belinda Lang, Trevor Peacock and Tim Pigott-Smith – the bikers will proceed to Glyndebourne Festival Opera and then Chichester Festival Theatre. Prior to winding up at the Theatre Engineering and Architecture Conference in London on 12 June, the party will also make the following stops:
- 6 June: The Mill at Sonning; Stonehenge; Bath Theatre Royal

Rushton-Read says: "I’m very much looking forward to visiting so many fine theatres and meeting up with some good old friends along the way. In terms of raising money, Jack and I are prepared to fulfil any reasonable requests potential sponsors might have in exchange for their cold hard cash. Our challenge to everyone is: get your thinking caps on and your wallets out and dream up a fun reason to give us your money!"
