Distinguished Meyer trio to appear at the Wrexham Science Festival

test 26 February 2008

UK: Mauricio Ramirez, Buford Jones and John Pellowe from Meyer Sound are all set to appear at this year’s Wrexham Science Festival in NE Wales. While Ramirez (‘Magoo’) will participate in a free four-day course entitled ‘Fundamentals of System Design, Implementation and Optimisation’, Jones and Pellowe will both be involved in more general evening sessions. All three of the events will be held at the NEWI (North East Wales Institute of Higher Education) Plas Coch Campus in March, reports David Davies.

The ‘Fundamentals of System Design_’ course will take place from March 7th to 10th, and is described as “a fantastic opportunity for people to find out more about the technical aspects of sound production”.

Buford Jones, meanwhile, will present a mixing workshop on March 7th, beginning at 6.30pm. Topics are set to include mixing tools and techniques, system tuning, mixing in concert halls, record producer involvement, surround mixing and mixing in isolation, as well as “issues of communication and trust” between the artist and the mixing engineer.

Finally, John Pellowe will provide an insight into ‘The World of Recording, Live Audio and Beyond’ (March 8th, 7.30pm). Read more about Pellowe’s memorable recent ISE appearance here.

“There’s growing support for sound at [NEWI] and it’s very valuable to be able to bring an international leader in like Meyer to give students first-hand knowledge of what the outside world is all about,” event coordinator John Jones tells PSN-e, adding that he hopes to arrange visits from several other manufacturers “of equal standing” in the near-future.
