DiGiCo SD53 April 2012
What is it? A digital mixing console designed as a replacement for the D5 Live and benefitting from advancements made possible through DiGiCo’s proprietary Stealth Digital Processing technology. Details The SD5 features a low-noise, heat-dissipating worksurface incorporating Hidden-til-lit (HTL) technology and five digitally-driven, full-colour TFT LCD screens (three of which are touch sensitive) providing easy access for single or multiple users. Also featured are two interactive dynamic metering displays (IDM) and quick-access buttons positioned down the left side of the channel screens for fast and easy navigation. Incorporating the master screen into the worksurface design has allowed for complete user feedback while maintaining a lower profile meter bridge which provides clear visibility of those on stage with everything accessible from the mix position. As with all SD consoles, the SD5 offers extended headroom and dynamic range and comes with a 2Gb fibre optic system capable of running 448 channels of I/O at 96kHz, plus 56 console-to-console tie lines, allowing connection to up to 14 of the SD variant racks. The design incorporates three redundant MADI ports and local I/O includes eight microphone inputs, eight line outputs and eight AES I/O (mono). The SD5 offers 124 input channels, 56 configurable busses, up to 5.1 mastering plus a 24 x 24 fixed matrix and DiGiTubes on every channel, buss and output. In addition to 24 assignable dynamic EQ processors, the desk features 24 multiband compressors, 24 stereo effects, 32 graphic EQs and 10 x 4 RGB backlit macro buttons. And another thing… The SD5 also includes the option of adding a Waves upgrade.
