DPA Microphones stars in Keyboards and Carols at Christmas

DPA microphones featured in the third annual Keyboards and Carols at Christmas event in Fort Worth, Texas, US.

With the help of 13 Steinway grand pianos, an organ and a choir of over 180 adults and children, student and professional musicians performed Christmas songs for a crowd of 3,500 at the School of Church Music at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

In addition to using a stereo pair of 4099 instrument microphones on each of the pianos, the school also utilised four wireless d:facto vocal microphones for the event’s soloists. The microphones’ magnetic mounts and goosenecks meant that they could be repositioned to pick up the exact area of sound they wanted to highlight from the instrument.

William Schaefer, assistant director of musical productions for the School of Church Music, says: “It’s nice to have high-quality mics that are rugged enough to withstand use by students and yet also produce a clean, natural sound.”
