Cirrus Research reveals workshop plan

UK: The three-day Noise Measurement Workshop will take place in Leamington Spa in November, writes David Davies. Beginning on November 25th, the workshop is designed for Health & Safety professionals in the entertainment industry, and anyone who needs to meet the legal requirements and HSE expectations of the new Control of Noise at Work regulations, which came into effect in April.

The practical course will cover the necessary skills and knowledge to manage these regulations, along with a guide to current best practice and analysis of case studies drawn from across the entertainment and music businesses. The course is priced at _539 (ex VAT) and places are limited. “Anyone who attends the Noise Measurement Workshop will be able to devise and implement a practical and effective hearing conservation programme (including mandatory PPE) for noise-exposed staff,” said James Tingay of Cirrus Research. “They will also be able to effectively control noise in key areas without degrading the ‘customer’ experience in their venue.”

In other recent Cirrus Research news, The Sage Gateshead has been using Cirrus doseBadge noise dosimeters to measure their workers’ noise dose exposure during sound checks and performances as part of a full programme designed to determine the level of noise protection required for both staff and performers. The venue will also be taking its Cirrus doseBadge kit on a forthcoming Swedish tour by its ‘home’ orchestra, Northern Sinfonia.
