test 17 July 2007

UK: The 11th CEDIA UK Expo attracted a total of 7,399 visitors to London’s ExCeL Centre in the last week of June. The 21% increase in attendance was complemented by a 15% expansion in the overall size of the event, which is oriented towards the custom installation industry, writes David Davies.

While custom installation designers, installers and trade suppliers represented the vast majority of the overall audience, there were notable rises in attendance from building specifiers and international visitors. The CEDIA education programme and Trade Supplier training sessions were said to have been very well subscribed, while a total of 85 delegates took the CEDIA certification exams available this year.

Regarding exhibitors, a total of 140 companies took part, occupying 7,000sqm – representing a 15% expansion in capacity from last year.

“This year’s CEDIA Expo looked and felt great,” CEDIA Expo show manager Matt Nimmons tells PSN-e. “We’re delighted with the quality of the visitors, the 21% audience growth in visitor numbers and the impressive level of investment from exhibitors. Training proved as popular as ever, too.

“We are back at ExCeL London next year from 23rd to 26th June and, with our new sales manager (Mary Whitlock) on board, we are in great shape and looking forward to the future. Already, we have taken unprecedented levels of re-bookings for CEDIA Expo 2008.”

Prior to that, the next event on the global CEDIA calendar is CEDIA Australasia, which takes place on the Gold Coast in Brisbane from July 26th to 28th. CEDIA US Expo follows in September.
