Calrec Apollo for 4k truck

A 48-fader Calrec Audio Apollo console will be installed in UK OB company Telegenic’s new 4k truck, which is being fitted out by Sony’s systems integration division. The vehicle, designated T25, will be among the first mobile facilities in the world to offer the higher resolution technology and will also operate in varying surround sound formats. Telegenic is a long-term user of Calrec desks and was the first European OB supplier to order a 3D truck, which was also integrated by Sony Professional. It now operates four 3D vehicles – T18 and T21, which were commissioned by Sky, and T19 and T23 – plus three HD scanners, T8, T14 and T16. Coach building work began on T25 towards the end of last year at the premises of AF Smith. The Apollo desk, which offers 5.1 as standard, was delivered to Sony at the beginning of April as the technical installation began. "Sony and Telegenic are continually striving to revolutionise the live production process and together we’ve broken new ground in delivering new formats to market – first with HD, then 3D and now with 4k," comments Peter Bates, managing director of Telegenic. "This latest venture, which is set to make 4k live production a reality, heralds a new era for the broadcast market which will, in turn, transform the entertainment experience as we know it." T25, which will be used for TV sports coverage, live music broadcasts and drama production, is due to go into service during May.
