Callum Jaguar Mk2 goes Blue with Van Damme cable17 September 2014
Over 100 Jaguar enthusiasts and sports car industry figures, including John Surtees, OBE, the only racer to win world titles on both two and four wheels, gathered for the unveiling of the Callum Mk2 and the official opening by Surtees of the new headquarters of Classic Motor Cars in Bridgenorth, Shropshire, on 28 August
The Callum Mk2 (pictured) is a stunning restoration and update of the iconic Mk2 Jaguar built by Classic Motor Cars for the head of design at Jaguar Cars, Ian Callum. For the Callum Mk2’s Clarion entertainment system, CMC chose Van Damme’s Blue Series Studio Grade speaker cable. Supplied by VDC Trading, the Blue Series, which uses finely stranded, ultra-pure oxygen-free copper, is the same cable used by most studios throughout the UK, including Abbey Road.
“Van Damme cable is an increasingly popular choice for more and more of the world’s most exclusive vehicles, including the onboard systems of superyachts and supercars, which are progressively evolving,” says the company. “In spite of digital developments and this heavily branded and catered-for market, there was a lack of a premium quality cable to transfer the sound and signals efficiently around the vehicle.
“Van Damme has seized this opportunity and developed and supplied premium grade speaker and interconnect signal cables to the automotive industry. As well as in the Callum Mk2 Jaguar, Van Damme has been used in Aston Martins, Ferraris and in the world’s fastest camper van: a heavily Karmann-modded VW T5.”
