Sonifex, the British manufacturer of audio and video equipment for radio and TV studios, is featuring the new Redbox RB‐AEC acoustic echo canceller and DHY‐04G GSM telephone hybrid on its stand at BVE.

The RB‐AEC (pictured) is a DSP-based acoustic echo canceller primarily designed for studio television and radio presenters. When a studio presenter’s microphone signal is played out through a monitor speaker in the control room, it can be picked up by the control room microphone(s) and returned to the presenter’s earpiece as an undesirable echo. The RB‐AEC is used to remove the entire control room monitor speaker output from the presenter’s feed by adapting to the environment in which the control room microphones are placed. Although
acoustic echo cancellation is more commonly implemented in telephony systems, the Sonifex RB‐AEC is designed to produce broadcast-quality cancellation.

Sonifex DHY‐04G hybrid, BVEThe DHY‐04G automatic digital GSM hybrid, which includes AES/EBU and analogue autosensing I/O and an Ethernet port for control and configuration, uses a quad‐band 2G/GSM cellular connection rather than an analogue POTS line, converting the GSM call to a four-wire audio signal to and from a connected mixing console. Sonifex says the DHY–04G (pictured right) is “ideal for studios in remote locations, for OB vans and trucks on the move and in emergency situations where a telephone landline can’t be guaranteed”.

See both products at BVE stand J02.
