Blastwave FX unveils “first 5.1 production elements library”

test 29 January 2008

US: “Officially the world’s first 5.1 surround sound production elements library” is the claim made on behalf of Revolver, a new collection of 1000 HD 5.1 surround sound imaging elements, compositions, drones and trailers from Blastwave FX. The material gathered together on Revolver’s 6 DVDs was created in the Blastwave, Radio Meltdown, Drones and Spoilers libraries, reports PSN-e.

Suitable for film, television, radio and video game work, Revolver enables audio professionals to “pack their productions with 5.1 surround elements that [render] a unique signature to draw attention to their productions”.

Each sound was originally recorded at 24-bit 96k, then delivered as 24-bit 48k broadcast .wav files, with an additional mp3 accompanying each file to facilitate quick referencing. As a Click N’ Drag library, Revolver’s entire contents can be clicked and dragged onto any hard drive and are catalogued with embedded metadata for easy search and retrieval in Pro Tools, AVID, SoundMiner, NetMix, iTunes and other popular sound library search engines.

“Blastwave FX has seen an increased demand for 5.1 HD sound effects libraries coinciding with the standardisation of the HD format especially for movies and video games,” says Gary W. Allison of The Detroit Chop Shop, the producing company behind all Blastwave FX products. “The market potential will increase as television, radio and even web video begin to incorporate surround sound delivery and the HD experience. Every HD Blastwave FX library contains a 5.1 surround component and Revolver is our first entirely 5.1 production elements library. We anticipate continuing to produce 5.1 libraries in high-definition and a steadily increasing expansion for their demand by audio professionals worldwide.”

Revolver is available now through the Blastwave FX website (link below) at an introductory price of $999.
