Big Bear Sound and Digital Garage’s new alliance18 November 2016
Big Bear Sound, professional audio suppliers and integrators in Ireland and Digital Garage, a broadcast and post production solution provider in the UK, have formed a strategic alliance to serve the broadcast and post production markets in Ireland.
Operating out of Big Bear’s central Dublin offices, the alliance creates a new broadcast video and post production division within the Big Bear Group and brings Digital Garage’s wide ranging broadcast product portfolio, 15-year track record in the UK industry, and their technical expertise and resources to the Irish market.
The collaboration also brings on board Stuart Lawn (former co-owner of Tyrell), as technical director and solutions architect for the alliance.
Big Bear and Digital Garage will provide complete video and audio solutions from all of the major industry brands including Avid, Editshare, Content Agent, Broadcast Pix, Storage DNA, and Genelec. The collaboration sees the two companies provide services from consultancy, sales, system design and integration through to technical support and maintenance.
Michael Browne, MD of Big Bear Sound comments: “We have a long and successful track record in servicing the audio requirements of our professional media clients in Ireland and increasingly these clients are looking for Big Bear to provide all of their media technology needs from acquisition to online delivery. Having previously collaborated with Digital Garage on a number of joint projects, we recognised that the right synergies and shared values existed between both companies to enable us to bring an unmatched end-to-end service to the Irish market.”
Michael Whelan, MD of Digital Garage says: “Having grown a hugely successful business in the UK and across EMEA, Digital Garage has already a number of prominent Irish media clients. The new relationship with Big Bear represents a perfect opportunity to bring our expertise, commitment and passion for creative technology solutions more prominently to this market.”
Recent projects from Digital Garage have included audio post and archiving systems for Sky in the UK, ingest and archive system for S4C and ingest, shared storage and 4K Cintel film scanning facilities for the Irish Film Institute.
Lawn joins the new venture with over 20 years of industry experience and adds: “As we enter a new era of IP, Cloud and VR based production, clients need more than ever to partner with a supplier that can provide a clear direction for their future technology requirements.”
