Avid lends support to FREE PSNPresents

Audio/video technology giant Avid has become the second company to lend its support to PSNPresents. The Pro Tools developer, which says it is “delighted to sponsor PSNPresents [and] support the pro audio community”, joins studio equipment manufacturer Focusrite as a sponsor of PSNEurope‘s new networking event (Focusrite confirmed as PSNPresents sponsor), which has attracted a star-studded line-up of industry talent since being announced in December.

Ben Hammond, FOH engineer for Deaf Havana, Young Guns, Saxon, The Veronicas and Jagaara and a Pro Sound Awards finalist, is the latest confirmed guest (see Deaf Havana FOH man Ben Hammond is lucky #7 for PSNPresents) for the free event, held at the Ham Yard Hotel in London on 12 March.

Hammond will join Charles ‘Chicky’ Reeves, who swapped tales of life on the road with Grace Jones and Prince at The Pre-Roll in September (see Prince FOH Chicky Reeves back for more at PSNPresents) and Massive Attack’s Robb Allan on a panel to discuss the highs and lows of working in the live sound scene. (Further panelists are still to be announced imminently.)

While the live sound panel represents the second half of the evening’s entertainment, the first half of will find Bafta-nominated Scott Talbott, craft manager at BBC Studios and Post Production, Strictly Come Dancing sound supervisor Andy Tapley, National Theatre head of sound and video Jonathan Suffolk and the Royal Opera House’s Steve Zissler in a lively Q&A session about the challenges of live sound in the broadcast and theatre environments.

PSNPresents, inspired by The Pre-Roll section of last year’s Pro Sound Awards, is centred around a sequence of on-stage interviews and panels with leading lights from the pro-audio spectrum. All those who attend stand the chance of winning a Focusrite RedNet 6 MADI bridge (one of a range of modular Ethernet-networked audio interfaces which deliver studio-quality sound to a range of pro-audio applications) worth over £1,500.

A variety of sponsorship packages are still available for the event. Contact Ryan O’Donnell (rodonnell@nbmedia.com), Darrell Carter (dcarter@nbmedia.com) or Rian Zoll-Khan (rzoll-khan@nbmedia.com) for more information.
