Attendance up by 30% at A.C. Lighting North Tradeshow 07

test 5 June 2007

UK: This year’s instalment – the seventh – of the A.C. Lighting North Tradeshow is said to have registered the largest increase in attendance since the event began. Over 30% more visitors made their way to the Leeds exhibition than last year, while there was also a notably robust presence from pro-audio manufacturers, writes David Davies.

In addition to providing a showcase for over 70 brands in the audio, visual, lighting and staging sectors, the event also served as a platform for many exhibitors to debut new products to the UK market. Audio suppliers doing just that included Kling & Freitag (showing new CD44 digital system processors with analogue line sense) and KV2 Audio (new EX active powered range and ES series compact active system).

A number of other prominent pro-audio manufacturers and distributors exhibiting at the show included Allen & Heath, Audio-Technica, Shure Distribution, Shuttlesound and Yamaha Professional.

“I’m delighted with the feedback for this year’s show,” A.C. audio sales manager Peter Butler (pictured to the left of KV2’s Andy Austin Brown and Mick Butler) tells PSN-e. “Audio is an increasingly vital part of A.C.’s business and customer proposition, and the representation of these brands at the A.C. North Show has gone from strength to strength in recent years. This year included some key first UK product showings from Harman Pro, Kling & Freitag, KV2 Audio, Sennheiser, Tannoy, D&M Professional and Yamaha. The PSA’s Any Lenthall also gave a valuable update on Ofcom’s proposals for protecting the industry’s access to spectrum for radio microphones and in-ear monitors. As a result, the show’s audio line-up proved very popular with both exhibitors and visitors alike.”

This year’s event – held on May 1st and 2nd – marked the final time that the show will be held at its present site. While remaining in Leeds, the event will move to the new, 40% larger Royal Armouries Saviles Hall next year.

Dates for the 2008 A.C. Lighting North Tradeshow are expected to be announced shortly.
