API and Source Distribution celebrate partnership at British Grove

Press, dealers, producers, engineers and artists gathered at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios in London to join Source Distribution’s celebration of its recent appointment as API distributor for the UK and Ireland. It was the perfect setting for the event, as British Grove’s Studio 2 features an API Legacy console purchased by Knopfler from Nashville.   Source officially began distributing its first discrete analogue audio brand in the summer, making its first sale to Scottish DJ/producer Calvin Harris, who purchased a second 1608 recording console (pictured) for his own studio. This is also Source Distribution’s first opportunity to sell large-format consoles, and according to Source’s director of distributed brands, Howard Jones (pictured, far right), the company is “already talking with someone about a Vision over here in the UK.”   Joining the celebrations at British Grove were API President Larry Droppa (pictured, far left), director of sales Dan Zimbelman (pictured, centre), and director of engineering Jeffrey Bork (pictured, second from right) – all of whom flew in from America especially for the event. Droppa took the opportunity to unveil the release of two new 500 series modular products from subsidiary company JDK Audio: the V10 microphone preamplifier and the V12 compressor.   Additionally Source Distribution introduced new pro-audio product specialist Andy Bensley (pictured, second from left), who has joined the Source team to promote API products and other Source brands.   Source’s Jones commented on the new partnership: “API is a great brand, with great products; huge in the States and other territories but in the UK it hasn’t quite had the profile that it needs. That’s what we’re good at; taking those brands and kicking them up a little, and that’s what we’re hoping to do with API.”   Droppa added: “Because we’re so passionate about what we do, we really like our dealers to be as passionate about the products that they sell, including API. We’re not the only company out there that makes pro-audio products, but if you handle our stuff, you need to be as passionate about it as we are. It’s off to a great start and I think (Source Distribution) will do really great things for us in the UK.”
