Ampco co-founder collects Lifetime Achievement Award

test 23 February 2010

UK: Fred Heuves was among the winners at the TPi Awards 2010, which was held in London on 8 February, reports PSN-e. Having started out working with local bands in his native Utrecht in the mid ’70s, Heuves went on to have a profound influence on the European live music industry, co-establishing Ampco and doing much to steer the company through a later manifestation as rental, sales, distribution and product development group Ampco Flashlight.

Heuves also created the Synco Europe Network, in which independent rental companies share equipment and expertise. Having retired from his role as CMO of the Ampco Flashlight Group last year, he was succeeded last month as Synco commercial director by Dutch music entrepreneur Marcel Albers.

Meanwhile, other winners at this year’s TPi Awards included Clair (Favourite International Production Company), Music Bank (Favourite Rehearsal Facility), Wigwam Acoustics (Favourite Sound Rental Company), Paul ‘Pab’ Boothroyd (Front-of-House Engineer of the Year), Jac Nott (Monitor Engineer of the Year), Dallas Schoo (Backline Technician of the Year) and the O2 Arena, London (Favourite Venue).
