The Media Networking Alliance (MNA) – the industry body, formed at the 137th AES Convention (see AES 137: Media Networking Alliance launches), promoting the AES67 audio-over-IP networking standard – has welcomed a new board of directors, and console manufacturer Solid State Logic, to its ranks.

MNA’s new board members include Rich Zwiebel, vice-president for systems strategy at QSC, as chairman (pictured); Terry Holton, general manager of the Yamaha R&D Centre, as vice-chairman; and Marty Sacks, vice-president of sales, support and marketing for the Telos Alliance, as financial officer. Bill Scott, vice-president of engineering and technology at Bosch Communications Systems, and Andreas Hilmer, director of marketing and communications at Lawo, have also been given seats on the board.

At the same time, the organisation announced that British manufacturer Solid State Logic has joined as a member company. Existing corporate members include Lawo, Shure, Yamaha, Bosch, DirectOut, Harman, Riedel and Focusrite.

“We are excited about the array of very important companies that currently make up the MNA and the great people from these companies who give of their own time to commit to the vision of AES67,” says Zwiebel. “It gives me great pleasure to warmly welcome a company of Solid State Logic’s stature within the pro-audio industry to our ranks. We are confidently looking forward to an exciting second year for the alliance, with the expectancy not only of growth but of an ever increasing rate of adoption.”

The MNA will host a live AES67 interoperability demonstration on its booth (#344) at the upcoming 139th AES Convention in New York, with 22 commercially available IP networked-audio devices from different manufacturers transmitting audio over AES67.

The AES and the European Broadcasting Union held an interoperability testing event for AES67 at the Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT) in Munich in November 2014 (see AES Standards Committee, EBU test AES67 at PlugFest).
