AES 125 to assess ‘pivotal’ audio trends15 July 2008
US: More details have emerged about the next AES US Convention, writes David Davies. According to John Strawn, who is co-chairing the Convention Committee with Valerie Tyler, “we have an exceptional Committee in place, and have been holding monthly planning sessions since November of last year. In addition to a special celebration in recognition of our Diamond Anniversary, we are developing an extraordinary programme focused on the pivotal developments and concerns of today’s professional audio world.”
“The combination of expertise and enthusiasm which distinguishes AES Convention Committee members is legendary,” added AES executive director Roger Furness. “We are extremely fortunate to have this eminent group of audio industry professionals dedicate themselves to creating the best conceivable Convention. The miracle behind these events is the spirit of volunteerism which drives the Committee. There is no way to properly compensate them for the time and energy they offer up.”
The AES 125th Convention Committee includes David Bialik (broadcast session chair); Dottie Kreps, Mark Swiderski and Teri Grossheim (education events co-chairs); Bob Megantz (facilities chair); Tamara Horacek (historical events chair); Bob Lee and Jonathan Novick (live sound events co-chairs); Jim McTigue and Conrad Cooke (master classes/tutorials co-chairs); Rob Maher and Veronique Larcher (papers co-chairs); Paul Verna (platinum panels chair); Dave Harris and Joe Carter (workshops co-chairs); David Bowles (tech tours chair); Chandra Lynn (special events chair); and Tim Duncan and Evan Peebles (volunteer co-chairs).
