Adele engineer McDonald completes line-up for PSNPresents

Dave McDonald, who has around 25 years of experience in live sound engineering, has been confirmed as the fourth and final panelist at the first PSNPresents event next week, 12 March 2015.

McDonald’s notable career began working alongside stripped-back trip-hoppers Portishead in the ’90s (both live and in the studio). He has gone on to mix FOH for Brendan Benson, Air, Florence and the Machine (where PSNEurope first met him, back in 2010!) and zillion album-selling Adele. More recently, McDonald has worked with singer/rapper Frank Ocean and Dangermouse’s Broken Bells outfit.

PSNPresents, inspired by The Pre-Roll section of last year’s Pro Sound Awards, is centred around a sequence of on-stage interviews and panels with leading lights from the pro-audio spectrum. Focusrite and Avid are the principal event sponsors (see Focusrite confirmed as PSNPresents… sponsor). The event is FREE but you need to register to attend.

McDonald will join Charles ‘Chicky’ Reeves, (Grace Jones, Prince), Massive Attack’s Robb Allan and Deaf Havana FOH Ben Hammond in a panel that will chomp and chew over the highs and lows of working in the live sound scene.

While this foursome represents the second half of the evening’s entertainment, the first half of will find Bafta-nominated Scott Talbott, craft manager at BBC Studios and Post Production, Strictly Come Dancing sound supervisor Andy Tapley, National Theatre head of sound and video Jonathan Suffolk and the Royal Opera House’s Steve Zissler in a lively Q&A session about the challenges of live sound in the broadcast and theatre environments.

PSNPresents will take place at the Ham Yard Hotel, London, on Thursday 12 March from 6.45pm with a 7.30pm start. Tickets are FREE!
