Abbey Road session up for grabs29 April 2008
UK: The NOTION Music Realize Music Challenge will enable one fortunate songwriter to have their composition performed and recorded by the LSO at Abbey Road. Composers from around the world are invited to submit an orchestral piece completed in NOTION software by the deadline of May 31st, writes David Davies.
The Grand Prize winner that emerges from the competition will be transported (with a guest) to London to record the composition with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road. The Grand Prize winner – who can be chosen from one of three categories (Young, Emerging, Professional Composer) – will also receive hotel accommodate whilst in London and $2,500 (_1,212) in cash. In addition, three finalists will each receive $1,000, with nine runner-ups winning their choice of NOTION software.
“We believe there is now more undiscovered talent out there than ever before and we want to give all composers, beginner or experienced, the opportunity to showcase their skills,” Kris Karra, UK managing director of NOTION Music, tells PSN-e. “It’s all about giving people with an interest in music the chance to discover what they can create themselves. We are always very impressed by the diverse range of entries and the inspiration behind the music. To be able to give everyone the opportunity to have their very own orchestral composition performed and recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios is really something quite special.”
Submitted original compositions must be 5-10 minutes in length and created in NOTION software. To learn more about the NOTION Realise Music Challenge and its rules, click on the link below.
