A. C. Lighting audio division tapped by Powersoft for UK distribution

test 4 December 2007

UK: The audio division of A.C. Lighting has been appointed as an authorised UK distributor for the Powersoft pro-audio power amplifier range. A.C. Audio was selected as one of only four distribution partners in collaboration with Sennheiser UK, based on criteria including distribution capability, stock holding facility and reputation for providing “elite products” and customer support, reports David Davies.

Under the terms of the agreement – which came into effect on November 1st – A.C. will sell and support the complete Powersoft power amplifier family, which includes the Q (pictured) and L series.

For A.C. Audio sales manager Peter Butler, the L Series holds particular potential for the future. “It’s a lower-cost unit and I think it will do very well,” he tells PSN-e. “The Ls are a really worthwhile addition to the range – a little bit more expensive and [consequently] perhaps more readily available to more people.”

As regards the overall development of Powersoft within the UK market, Butler notes that A.C. has already supplied or installed a number of the company’s amplifiers – notably to Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre – and found them to be “extremely well-received, very reliable and very good sonically.” Looking forward, A.C. will be specifying Powersoft amplifiers when appropriate and “doing what we can to get the marketing information out there_ basically trying to get behind the brand because we have a lot of faith in it.”

Sennheiser UK’s Nick Longland also offered his perspective on the latest development. “I am delighted that [A.C. Lighting’s audio division] has chosen to support the Powersoft range with Sennheiser and felt that the brand suited the profile of A.C.,” he said. “Their previous experience of the range as well, of course, gives us both a great head start.”
