2010 MPG Unsung Hero award: voting now open!17 November 2009
UK: Once again, the award is sponsored by Alchemea and Pro Sound News Europe, reports David Davies. The Unsung Hero award will be presented as part of the 2010 Music Producers Guild (UK) Awards, which will take place at the Cafe de Paris in London on February 11.
The inaugural award – announced during the first MPG Awards earlier this year – went to Deep Recording Studios’ Andy McBride, pictured here receiving his trophy from Alchemea’s Gary Boreham and PSNE’s very own Dave Robinson.
You can register your vote for the 2010 Unsung Hero award here (http://prosoundnewseurope.com/UnsungHero). The 12-strong nominations list runs as follows: Adam Sieff (director of global A&R and head of UK operations, Sellaband), Charlie Mines (bookings co-ordinator, AIR), Crispin Murray (technical development manager, Metropolis), engineer/mixer/producer Darren Simpson, studio consultant/manager Dave Harries, Big Life producer manager Jill Hollywood, recording engineer/console designer Malcolm Toft, Matt Ward (head of maintenance for Strongroom), Paul Turney (Sirensound Digital UK), studio manager Phil Sisson, Chris Jenkins (director of commercial applications, SSL) and Lucy Jones (studio manager, Angel Studios).
"There are lots of people who have made an outstanding contribution to our recording industry, but never seem to have attained the recognition they deserve," says Robinson. "So here’s your chance to do something about it!"
Nominations close on December 18. A shortlist of three will be created from the highest votes and the winner revealed at the 2010 MPG Awards.
